Verify the result in the receiving system
An integration is useful when the business result is visible: the lead reaches the CRM or the paid order receives the correct status. Review the data transferred, permissions and error behavior. A plugin can connect two systems, but subscription limits, field mapping and changed APIs still require testing and ongoing ownership.
Trace the final integration outcome
Map the trigger, processing, provider and final destination. An accepted HTTP response may be intermediate; specify the record or notification the business actually needs.
- Map owner at each stage.
- Select synthetic test data.
- Inspect errors and duplicates.
- Document final outcome.
Assign responsibility across the transaction
Use limited credentials where supported and keep tokens out of public forms. Paid plans and unsupported APIs can alter scope. Assign responsibility for failed requests and retention across connected systems.
| Layer | Evidence | Owner |
|---|---|---|
| Input | Validated request | Website |
| Provider | Response and quota | Service account |
| Destination | Correct record once | CRM/mailbox |
Example: a retry creates duplicate CRM records
A webhook retries after a timeout and creates two records. Review retries and destination duplicate controls before marking the workflow reliable. This is an illustrative scenario, not a customer case or a promised result.
